Today, DSB1 recognizes Powley Day and the significance of the Supreme Court of Canada's 2003 R.v. Powley decision, which affirmed constitutionally protected Métis harvesting rights.

It is an opportunity for our students to learn about Métis history, identity, culture and rights, and to deepen their understanding of the diverse Indigenous peoples and communities we serve.
