Board Chair and Vice-Chair Acclaimed

12/07/2016 - District School Board Ontario North East is proud to announce the acclamation of Doug Shearer as Chair of the Board and Bob Brush as Vice-Chair. Elections were held during the Board of Trustees annual inaugural meeting on December 6th. Both Shearer and Brush were the sole nominees for each position. Shearer is the trustee for Haileybury, Cobalt-Coleman Township and Temagami. Bob Brush represents the Timmins area.


Painting of Traditional Thirteen-Sided Drums

11/28/2016 - Students in this semester's Expressing Aboriginal Culture course at École Secondaire Cochrane High School put their creativity to work painting Woodland style inspired imagery onto traditional thirteen-sided drums. The drums were made in the same course last semester with Gary Lavigne. The painted drums are a nice addition to the hallways at Cochrane High. Great job students!


Rogers Hometown Hockey at W. Earle Miller PS

11/25/2016 - During a Timmins-wide elementary school fundraising competition for the food bank, Miller "filled their net" with over 1200 food items, winning a visit from the Rogers Hometown Hockey crew! Great job Miller!


KLDCS Passes on Mental Health Message

11/21/2016 - A group of students and staff from Kirkland Lake District Composite School recently met with Rick Mercer to pass on their #ConvoPlate. The students had asked the CBC personality to help bring the youth mental health conversation to the national stage, and he agreed. The big meeting happened in Toronto with Mercer accepting the plate. Congratulations to KLDCS!
