HOSTING GUEST SPEAKERS 

1.0             Rationale

District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) values opportunities to enhance Ontario curriculum connections for students and for staff professional development. This policy supports the mandatory requirements for communicating with families as set out by the Ministry of Education. 

2.0             Definitions

Third-Party Guest Speaker: A speaker or presenter that is not employed by DSB1, or acting in a capacity outside of the organization. 

3.0             Policy

3.1   The board will ensure that third-party guest speakers hosted across the district align with curriculum expectations, Strategic Plan priorities, and support welcoming and affirming school environments.

3.2   The board will inform families of any third-party guest speaker at least 14 calendar days prior to the event, including details on the topic, organization being represented and materials being shared with students.
