GROWING SUCCESS – ASSESSMENT, EVALUATION & REPORTING

 

1.0             Rationale

The primary purpose of assessment, evaluation, and reporting is to improve student learning.  Assessment, evaluation, and reporting of student achievement is to be based on a variety of assessments including observations, conversations and products. This collection of evidence is based on the provincial curriculum expectations and where applicable, alternative curriculum expectations as outlined in the student’s individual education plan.

See the glossary on pages 143-156 of the Ministry of Education’s Growing Success document.

3.0             Policy

It is the policy of District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) to achieve fairness, equity, and transparency across the Board in the assessment, evaluation and reporting of student achievement. Staff and students will follow the guidelines from the Ministry of Education’s Growing Success policy and the procedures related to DSB1’s policy.
