APPROPRIATE DRESS
1.0 Rationale
District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) recognizes the need for safe, respectful, and inclusive learning and teaching environments.
DSB1 supports all schools in their expectations of appropriate student dress and recognizes the need to have a procedure if a school community wants to implement a formal school dress code, such as school uniforms.
This policy and related procedures have been developed in accordance with Ontario Regulation 298, s.302(5) of the Education Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code with consideration to DSB1’s Policy and Procedure 1.2.23 Equity and Inclusive Education and Policy and Procedure 2.1.6 Code of Conduct.
2.0 Definitions
Eligible Family: Families with students presently enrolled in the school.
3.0 Policy
DSB1 is committed to ensuring safe, respectful, and inclusive learning and teaching environments through the application of the enclosed procedures related to student dress codes and formal dress codes, i.e., school uniforms.
