As we celebrate on Monday, May 19, 2025, we wish our students, staff, families, and community a safe and enjoyable long weekend. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, and we look forward to seeing everyone then!

This year’s theme, “No One Left Behind: Equality, Freedom, and Justice for All”, calls us to stand together in solidarity, celebrate diversity, and create safe, inclusive spaces for all. Together, we can build a world where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

On this World Education Support Personnel Day, we celebrate the incredible contributions of support staff members across DSB1. Your dedication fosters inclusive, inspiring, and empowering learning environments for every student. Thank you for all you do.

Students from across our region have successfully competed in the Skills Ontario Regional Competition, showcasing the exceptional talents of students in various technical and skilled trades, preparing them for future careers in these in-demand fields. Winners from the regional competitions will advance to the Provincial Competition in Toronto, with the opportunity to progress to the Skills Canada National Competition.

We are incredibly proud of Julie Hutnick-Whitehead, a Grade 6 teacher at New Liskeard Public School who recently travelled to Warsaw, Poland, to participate in Apple Education Talks. Julie took part in a panel discussion highlighting the benefits of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in the classroom. The event was filmed and will be shared with education leaders worldwide.

Student registrations will not be available Friday, May 9, at 6 p.m. until 10:00 am on Sunday, May 11 , for a scheduled upgrade to our student information system.
