Student Dental Services

As part of the many services that the Porcupine Health Unit and the Timiskaming Health Unit provide in our schools, the Dental Team will be visiting all elementary schools to do their annual dental check-ups for all our JK, SK, grade 2 and grade 8 students. Other students in grades 4 and 6 might also be seen depending on the school's dental risk level.

Oral health is important and helps contribute to the overall health of a child. Once screened, your child will bring home a folder indicating the results of the check-up. If you wish to withdraw your child from this check-up, simply call or send a note to the Dental Services department of either of the health units.

The Dental Services department also provides the following services to children 17 years of age and younger in the community who have no access to insurance or dental coverage:

  • Children In Need of Dental Treatment Program (View Information)
  • Healthy Smiles Ontario (View Information)
  • Preventive Services including oral hygiene instruction, teeth cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants provided by Registered Dental Hygienists
  • Dental Technician visits to District School Board Ontario North East schools
