Our Learning and Teaching team launched Brain Boosters, a quick and engaging way to help students strengthen key Language and Math skills while building confidence for EQAO.

These 5-minute questions give students regular practice with important concepts and EQAO-style thinking. Rooted in the Science of Learning, Brain Boosters promote strong routines, problem-solving, and meaningful discussion.

Today we recognize Human Rights Day and this year’s theme, “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials.” This theme reminds us that human rights are the foundation of dignity, safety, and fairness in our daily lives.

December 6 marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day commemorates the 1989 tragedy at Polytechnique Montréal, where 14 young women lost their lives.

Grades 5 and 6 students from Central Public School and Joseph H. Kennedy Public School participated in Skills Ontario’s Virtual Skilled Trade & Tech Day Slick Wind Power Car Build. The event gave students the chance to design and build wind-powered cars while learning about engineering and renewable energy.

December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, highlighting this year’s theme: “Fostering disability-inclusive societies.” With over one billion people worldwide living with a disability, inclusion matters more than ever.

Today, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all those who have fought and continue to serve for our country. We remember those who gave their lives, those who returned forever changed, and the families who stood behind them.
Lest we forget.

We are eager to be accepting winter-themed submissions for the 2025 DSB1 Holiday Card Contest until Thursday, November 13 at 12 p.m. (noon).
