Recognizing Social Workers, Child and Youth Workers, and support staff across DSB1

This year's theme, #SocialWorkOpensDoors, resonates deeply with the tenet of social work, highlighting the countless ways in which social workers support the people they serve.

Social workers play a crucial role within our schools, from promoting mental health and well-being to addressing mild to moderate issues through evidence-informed early interventions. They also facilitate referrals to community-based child and youth mental health services for students with more intensive needs. Their dedication ensures that students receive timely assistance and guidance when needed.

We also extend a heartfelt appreciation to our Child and Youth Workers and all other support staff within our schools who work tirelessly to promote mental health and well-being. Their invaluable contributions foster environments that nurture growth, resilience, and inclusivity, ensuring that every individual has access to the support they require.

During this month of recognition and reflection, let us honour and celebrate the profound impact of Social Workers and Child and Youth Workers, whose compassion and expertise pave the way for a bright future for all students.
