National Ribbon Skirt Day

Ribbon skirts are a spiritual symbol of womanhood, identity, adaptation, and survival. They are a way for women to honour themselves and their culture, representing a direct connection to Mother Earth and its sacred medicines.

In DSB1, students and staff proudly wear their ribbon skirts and shirts and participate in opportunities through community partnerships with Kapuskasing Friendship Centre and Kunuwanimano Child & Family Services to learn about and make ribbon skirts and shirts.
