Spreading Kindness in the Community

Students at Federal Public School in Mrs. Rosenthal’s Grade 4 and 5 class demonstrated the Strategic Priority of Culture by participating in a project in anticipation of World Kindness Day in November. Thanks to a generous donation from the Pronto Store, students assembled and sold candy kabobs, raising over $250. Students then brainstormed how to use that money to spread kindness throughout their community on World Kindness Day.

On November 13, celebrating World Kindness Day, students walked through Kirkland Lake together, surprising community members with their acts of kindness, distributing bouquets of flowers and gift cards for local businesses, purchased with their raised money. Their acts of kindness also extended to paying for some Foodland customers’ orders. Students witnessed the smiles and gratitude their acts of kindness brought others.

Every day is an opportunity to demonstrate kindness and caring to ourselves and others.
