World Youth Skills Day

World Youth Skills Day acknowledges the importance of providing greater access to post-secondary education, skills training, and job opportunities to help set our youth up for successful, fulfilling and rewarding careers across all sectors.

Across DSB1, students engage in learning inside and outside of the classroom to gain a wide range of skill sets and knowledge. At Kirkland Lake District Composite School, students of the robotics team participate in the 2022 Skills Ontario Robotics Competition. With this year’s focus on gold mining, students gain knowledge of both robot designing and building while also learning about the local regional processes pertaining to mining.
This enriching and hands-on experience is helping to propel students towards careers in fields such as Engineering Technology.
