Drinking Water Testing for Lead Content

September 26, 2017

Since 2007, the Ontario government has been requiring that our Board flush the plumbing in our facilities and test our drinking water for lead. Under the amended Ontario Regulation 243/07 that took effect July 1, 2017, lead testing within all our schools will be required for all fixtures used to provide drinking water and/or prepare food or drink for children under 18. These are considered Drinking Water Fixtures (DWF). "Handwashing only" signs are hung beside any fixtures that were not identified as Drinking Water Fixtures. Signs noting the Lead Testing has been completed along with Lead exceedances, if any, will be hung at all Drinking Water Fixtures.
