On Friday, September 21, TH&VS welcomed Bladder Cancer Survivor Ryan Lougheed with warm applause as he took the stage to discuss his battle with the disease. Students were entertained by Ryan's candid and optimistic approach to this very serious fight in which he is engaged. Ryan's message was to pay attention to warning signs and symptoms that indicate bladder cancer.
The student body, numbering approximately 600 strong, walked together in solidarity to raise awareness for cancer and to show our school's commitment to helping find a cure. The Blues presence was surely felt as our large group walked throughout various Timmins neighbourhoods and were encouraged by drivers and pedestrians along the way.
Ryan was taken aback by the school's enthusiastic response to his presentation and was humbled by the number of walkers that joined him Friday morning to raise awareness for Bladder Cancer Canada and their endeavours.
