July 3, 2020
We are happy to share with you that our Mental Health & Well-being Team will be providing support services throughout the summer. We understand that families and students may be experiencing a wide range of emotions and questions during these uncertain and unprecedented times. We believe that it is important that our students continue to have support in the way that works best for them.
The main purpose of these services will be to support socio-emotional learning (SEL) in students. SEL helps students to develop the intra- and interpersonal skills they need to flourish throughout their life. To learn more about how student can build SEL knowledge and skills visit School Mental Health Ontario.
Summer support services will be available from July 6 to August 27, 2020, on a flexible schedule. Participation will be voluntary and require consent of the student and/or the family. Services will be delivered by phone or other remote services that best meet the student/family needs.
If you and your child feel that these services could be beneficial, we invite you to contact Lisa Nixon, Executive Assistant to Superintendent of Education Steve Pladzyk, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students and families who may need more intensive emotional support during this time are encouraged to seek care through our local community partners:
These times, although challenging, offer an opportunity to strengthen our resilience and pay greater attention to our well-being.
