On Monday, April 27, 2020, DSB1 staff had the pleasure to learn with Kevin Lamoureux. Mr. Lamoureux is a faculty member at the University of Winnipeg and a well-known public speaker. He has served as Associate Vice President for the University of Winnipeg, Education Lead for the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, and as Scholar in Residence for several school divisions.
We were pleased to connect with him remotely and engage staff in two separate sessions.
Mr. Lamoureux spoke to staff about the Circle of Courage during uncertain times. The values represented in the Circle of Courage model are belonging, mastery, independence and generosity, This model beautifully represents a wholistic way to approach our work in supporting a positive future story for all of our students.
In a time of physical distancing, Mr. Lamoureux highlighted the importance of each section of the Circle of Courage to foster hope and well-being for ourselves, our students and our communities.
DSB1 would like to thank Kevin Lamoureux for his time with us and for passionately sharing his vision of schools as places of Mino-Pimatisiwin.
