Mental Health Supports During the Holidays

December 21, 2020

We know that the holiday break will be different this year.  It has been a challenging year, and it has taken a toll on the mental health of many families and children. Beyond this, with school being closed, some of the usual supports for your children might not be available.

Students and families can access personalized mental health services and supports during the holidays.  These are delivered in-person, on the phone and virtually through local community mental health agencies, health centers, and provincial helplines.

If you are a parent/caregiver worried about your child, or a young person looking for help – please reach out.  Visit our Mental Health Resources page to view the network of mental health supports available to help you.  In addition, we invite you to view the Navigating Wellness Presentation prepared by our Mental Health Team and to check out 7 tips to get ready for the holidays from our friends at Children's Mental Health Ontario

Do not underestimate your family's resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges.  The end of the calendar year offers the gift of looking back and noticing what worked for you and building from there.  This will look different for all.

Wishing you happiness and health this holiday season!
