The 29th Annual Arthur Gabor Classic Basketball tournament was held on Jan. 25th and 26th in North Bay. The Roland Michener Intermediate Rebels participated in their first out of town tournament.
Nerves almost got the best out of the boys, yet they maintained their composure against the host Chippewa Raiders to edge them 54-39.
Their next game was against local Fricker. The boys came away with another win 39-22.
The Rebels made the semi-finals and played against Algonquin. It was the first time the Rebels faced off against a zone, yet cruised to a 56-36 win.
In the finals, the Rebels again played the host Chippewa Raiders. The boys' left it all on the court. They jumped out to an 8 point lead and never looked back. With hard work and determination, The Rebels won a hard-earned championship 50-37.
Mr. Montrose and Mr. Larocque were proud of the way the boys showed class and respect towards teams and officials. Way to represent Roland Michener!
