Treaties Recognition Week

November 1 to 7, 2020 is Treaties Recognition Week. Treaties Recognition Week was introduced to recognize and understand the importance of treaty education and to help everyone in Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships.

Treaty education and a is a critical part of reconciliation. Treaties are the foundation of the relationship between governments and Indigenous peoples.  It is necessary to understand how these legal agreements have shaped our nation in order to move forward together in a good way.  Treaties Recognition Week responds to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action to increase treaty awareness.

District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) is proud to provide all learners with opportunities to learn more about Canada's shared history.
