On Thursday May 9th, students at École secondaire Cochrane High School (ESCHS) enjoyed a Mental Health Activity Day focused on developing well-being skills in honour of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Activities included: tie dying facilitated by our Jack Chapter, volleyball & basketball, board games, mindful colouring, cooking, nail painting and hair styling facilitated by local hair stylists, and a cultural activity focused on the clan systems and seven grandfather teachings facilitated by the Iininew Friendship Centre. Following the activities the school community enjoyed a BBQ lunch prepared by staff members.
A special thank you to our community partners for making this event a success. Susan Johnston and Kayla Crawford, our local hair stylists; Raven Martin and Christine Lajoie from Ininew Friendship Centre for facilitating the cultural activity; Nadeen Carey and Sylvie Grenier from Ininew Friendship Centre for setting up a Mental Health booth in the cafeteria during lunch.
