This project was one of many culminating tasks associated with the school’s overall Farm to Table Inquiry. Throughout the month of April, students took part in a Cooking Club and learned how to safely prepare food...s that were not only of interest to them but focused on the great taste that can come from healthy choices.
Mrs. Mullin’s K-2s prepared Caesar salad, turkey wraps, chicken noodle soup and cake for dessert.
Mr. Pellegrino’s 2-6s learned how to make Greek pasta salad, egg salad sandwiches, tomato beef macaroni soup and apple crumble.
Students of all ages took on a wide range of roles associated with the running of any restaurant including but not limited to: host/hostess, waiter/waitress, bus boy, dishwasher, chef, bar tender (juice and water only!), cashier and more!
Students served 55 patrons before then feasting themselves. The community members were very generous and even left a tip!
Please note that the photos attached today are from the cooking club lessons as everyone was too busy working on the day of the café to take any pictures.
What an amazing effort put in by all members of our school community! You should be very proud of your incredible efforts!
