Board Appoints Brush and Draves

December 06, 2017

Dstrict School Board Ontario North East is proud to announce the acclamations of Bob Brush as Chair of the Board, and Dennis Draves as Vice-Chair. Elections were held during the Board of Trustees’ annual inaugural meeting on December 5th. Both Brush and Draves were the sole nominees for each position.

A longtime educator, Brush has served 7 years as trustee for the Timmins area, 4 of them as Vice-Chair.

“This will be a busy year as we complete the final year of our 4 year term,” commented Brush. “The year ahead will be both challenging and rewarding. As Chair, I pledge to continue my personal support of the Director of Education, the Senior Administrative Team, our frontline educators, our students, and our valued stakeholders who support public education.”

“This year we will develop a new strategic plan, ensure that our students and staff have a safe and welcoming learning environment, continue to implement data-based decision making strategies, exercise fiscal responsibility, and continue to reach out to our co-terminous boards and municipal governments for any possible sharing opportunities.”

Dennis Draves also has many years as an educator under his belt. He has served 11 years as a trustee for the Cochrane area.

“I look forward to working with Bob as second-in-command,” commented Draves. “Our Board works very well together. I think over the coming year we have to try and figure out what is the best way to provide opportunities for our students to deal with the future. Things are moving so fast.”

“I am thrilled with the acclamations of Bob and Dennis,” added Director of Education, Lesleigh Dye. “Both bring a wealth of experience to the table. They are very passionate in their support of the Board, have a high degree of respect for their colleagues, and have worked very hard as trustees to be transparent. I look forward to working with them in their new roles.”
