District School Board Ontario North East is proud to announce the launch of their new and improved website.

The web address remains the same: www.dsb1.ca, but the re-vamped site now includes many new features:

  • It displays nicely on any sized screen, whether it’s a phone, tablet or laptop/desktop;
  • It meets the WCAG 2.0 Level A Accessibility Standards, required by 2025, allowing the site to be read by text to speech software, the adjustment of font size, etc.;
  •  Google Translate works on the new web site, using the “Select Language” drop down box at the top of the page;
  •  The site has “Web 2.0” technology built in, enabling content to be easily added and updated (news and announcements, articles, pictures and video, etc.);
  • The content on the website is indexed and fully searchable from the search button (just use the magnifying glass!)
“We are extremely proud of our new website and of all the hard work that went into creating it,” says Director of Education, Lesleigh Dye. “The internet has changed dramatically since our first website was launched around 2001. Together with our partner, web developer Scholantis, we hope to improve accessibility, engagement and communication with students and their families, as well as our employees.”

“Our new website meets the needs of a changing community,” adds Board Chair Doug Shearer. “Most people use their phones and tablets to access information, and our new site is responsive on all mobility devices.”

The second phase of the website design will involve the re-designing of the individual websites of all schools, so that they all have a similar look.

Members of the public are invited to provide feedback on the new website by emailing comments@dsb1.ca
