Mme Wray’s Grade 1-2 class at Bertha Shaw Public School identified a problem, and decided to take action. After noticing bears in their neighbourhoods, students felt they needed to educate the public about what they can do to deter bears from coming around their homes. Students want to feel safe when they venture outdoors and want their community to know what they can do to help reduce the amount of bear sightings
After attending a Bear Wise presentation, they took action to hopefully make a change. We are proud of our students taking initiative and wanting to help to help solve this problem. Students made flyers and handed them out at Metro in the Porcupine Mall, as well as in their own neighbourhoods. So great to see these agents of change working hard to make a difference!
