District School Board Ontario North East is pleased to announce the appointment of Lesleigh Dye as Director of Education and Board Secretary effective August 14, 2017.
Following Director Linda Knight’s announcement of her intent to retire in June of 2016, District School Board Ontario North East began an extensive process to hire a new Director of Education.
The appointment was approved by the Board at its regular meeting held on June 6th, 2017.
“Lesleigh Dye brings an outstanding wealth of experience, knowledge and abilities to this important leadership role,” said Board Chair Doug Shearer.
He added: “We know that her vision, caring and direction will ensure the continuing support and success of our students, our families, our staff and our communities.”
Lesleigh Dye has been Superintendent of Schools for Rainbow District School Board since 2006. In addition to a family of schools, she has been responsible for a number of portfolios from Kindergarten, to Program, to Indigenous Education, to Equity and Inclusive Education, to Adult Education, to Elementary Human Resources, to Leadership.
“Through my experiences, I have been honoured to serve outstanding staff who have worked hard to create positive future stories for all students.” said Dye. “I look forward to working with trustees, staff and all partners within and beyond District School Board Ontario North East to ensure success for each and every student.”
Lesleigh Dye has served as Principal and Vice-Principal of large and diverse schools in Toronto and Ottawa. She has also been an administrator in Continuing Education.
As Student Success Leader with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, she oversaw the implementation of the Student Success Initiative in literacy, numeracy and pathways. She was directly involved in implementing a number of expert panel reports aimed at improving student success.
Prior to joining Rainbow District School Board as a Superintendent, she served as the Central Coordinating Principal, Literacy K to 12, for the Toronto District School Board. A results-oriented leader, Dye has shared her expertise in literacy and numeracy with educators across the province. Her work resulted in a better understanding of exemplary literacy practices and the critical role of instructional leaders in schools.
Lesleigh Dye has a Masters of Education from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education, a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Carleton University. She also has a Certificat de français from Université de Grenoble.
Director Linda Knight will be retiring after a 48 year career in Education and 15 years as Director of Education for District School Board Ontario North East.
