On February 28th, a group of graduating KLDCS students took part in a workshop on how to prepare healthy meals on a budget while following Canada's new food guide.
This was a new initiative from the school's Student Success team and was sponsored and delivered by the local Temiskaming Health Unit's dietician and our school nurse. Over 25 students participated, made a healthy low-cost lunch and walked away with a recipe book made just for them.
This is part of a series of workshops facilitated by KLDCS to promote student independence and life skills as they head off on their own into post-secondary. Our next workshop will focus on budgeting and will be delivered by an accountant from the community.
