1.0 All students who register in a DSB1 school will have the opportunity to self-identify as First Nation, Métis, or Inuit.
2.0 School staff will offer information regarding the purpose for self-identification procedure.
3.0 At the system level, data will be tracked for all students who identify as Indigenous to ensure that DSB1 is honoring the First Nation, Métis, Inuit Policy Framework in allocating resources. Then, resources are identified to support all students.
4.0 For school staffed with Indigenous Student Advisors, lists of students who identify as Indigenous will be maintained and updated to ensure appropriate supports are in place.
5.0 Staff will bring the self-identification data to the Indigenous Peoples’ Advisory Committee on an annual basis and highlight the specific supports and interventions in place.
