Unless otherwise stated:
Board property: includes all school board building and properties, as well as all out-of-classroom programs, activities, and facilities approved by or under the jurisdiction of the district, and while on buses under contract with the Transportation Consortium.
Principal: a Principal or his/her designate as appropriate;
Parent: a parent/legal guardian of a student who is a minor;
Reasonable and probable grounds: the reasonable conclusion reached by a responsible adult;
Smoking: defined as holding lit smoking material, including tobacco product in any processed or unprocessed form (e.g., chewing tobacco, snuff) and e-juice products. Use of electronic cigarettes or vapours is considered included under the definition of smoking;
Alcohol: all substances defined as liquor in the Liquor Licence Act (O. Reg. 461/11)
Drugs:
- All substances included under the "Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (S.C. 1996, c. 19)". 2016-11-30.
- All “controlled drugs” and “restricted drugs” as included in the Food and Drugs Act. R.S., c. F-27, s. 1.
- Inhalants – used for the purpose of intoxication; and
- Steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs;
Trafficking: when there is sufficient evidence (with the advice of law enforcement personnel) that a person has delivered, sold or given alcohol, illegal, controlled and/or restricted substances, or prescription drugs/inhalants to another person.
Ontario Schools Code of Conduct: the
provincial code of conduct applicable to all schools in Ontario, as well as the School Board’s Code of Conduct.
