The naming of a new or consolidated school, library, auditorium, gymnasium or athletic field is an event which may create high community interest. The name chosen must be done with the recognition of factors both present and future.
The naming or renaming of a new or consolidated school is an important event that occurs on occasion when the district is fortunate to have a new construction of a school facility.
On occasion, schools are combined to address changes in program or demographics. The Naming of School Policy does not apply when construction of a new facility does not occur, even though students of a school are attached to an existing school and facility. In this instance incoming students will adopt the name of the existing facility.
