Official Languages Program Bursaries Now Available!
The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada, in cooperation with the provinces and territories, administers the Official Languages Programs. These language learning, enrichment and exchange programs are funded by Heritage Canada and promote Canada's offical languages.
Each year, the Official Languages Programs grant over 2400 bursaries to Ontario students. They have been offering Ontario students opportunities to discover another region of Canada while developing or enriching their French language skills for over 40 years.
These bursaries are now available. You/your student does not need to currently be in an FSL program in order to apply. This is a great opportunity for FSL students, or those students who for one reason or another couldn't fit it on their timetable and may have a desire to continue their French. Please see the details below:
Destination Clic (Application Deadline - March 31, 2018)
This is a 3-week language bursary program for enrichment in French as a first language. The $2,000 bursary covers most of the expenses and offers participants new opportunities to explore another region of Canada, to meet new people and to enrich their French. Destination Clic is open to grade 8 and 9 francophone students who have a permanent residence outside of Quebec. For more information, please visit www.destinationclic.ca.
DELF Scolaire: A diploma for your future!
Are you a gr. 11-12 student studying French at District School Board Ontario North East?
If you are, the DELF diploma is a valuable proof of competency to include in your resume. The DELF exam is an opportunity for our students currently taking a Gr. 12 FSL course to demonstrate French-language skills and to be rewarded with a certificate that will enhance any resume. The DELF exams are recognized worldwide and upon successful completion, students will be awarded a certificate of competency which will never expire. The DELF represents official proof that your French language skills are at a standard expected by future post-secondary school or employees requiring the ability to communicate in French with their clients. Many students have expressed their appreciation for being able to challenge the DELF and graduate with a globally recognized certificate in their portfolio. Click here to learn more.
