OSSLT Cancelled Today: Notice to Parents, Guardians and Staff

August 23, 2017

Notice to parents and guardians and staff

re: OSSLT cancelled today

Today was an optional opportunity for our students to write the EQAO Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) online. All of our secondary schools were well prepared for this opportunity for our students to be among the first to complete this test solely using technology.

Unfortunately, the test did not progress as planned, due to issues on the part of EQAO as their system "collapsed" for some schools and students. We experienced the frustration of getting into their program site and, after numerous attempts, have not been successful in having our students participate in this online test.

EQAO has now cancelled today’s planned OSSLT assessment. We know our teachers and students are very frustrated as they were totally prepared. At this point, students will be able to write the OSSLT on March 30th, 2017. We expect, by that time, that the technical challenges faced by EQAO will be resolved.

We want to send a huge thank you to the school teams of staff and students for all their efforts in preparing for today’s OSSLT, and for their perseverance when facing the technical issues they experienced.

Sincerely,

Linda Knight

Director of Education
